Williams Hearing Posting 21-22_ADA.pdf
Res.No 2021-48 Sufficiency of Instructional Materials_21-22_ADA.pdf
Summary
:
As a result of the Williams settlement, the California Department of Education is requiring a resolution declaring the district's sufficiency of instructional materials in the core areas of math, science, social science and reading/language arts as a condition of receiving textbook funding. Not included as a condition of funding but required for inclusion in the resolution are health, foreign language, and science laboratory equipment for grades 9-12. As defined by state, sufficiency is defined as each pupil having textbook or instructional material, or both, to use in class and to take home to complete homework assignments. This does not require two sets of textbooks or instructional materials for each pupil. Sufficiency of Instructional Materials Resolution 2021-48 has been scheduled for Board Action on 09/21/21.
Funding
:
Insufficiency could result in withholding of state textbook funding.
Recommendation
:
The public hearing is being conducted to allow the public opportunity to address the Board on this matter.
