Senate Bill 114 mandates that all Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) in California screen students in kindergarten through second grade for reading difficulties, including dyslexia, beginning in the 2025–2026 school year. In compliance with this legislation, LEAs must adopt a screening instrument from a list approved by the Reading Difficulties Risk Screener Selection Panel by June 30, 2025.
